The design of narrative environments is concerned with the urban (urbs) in its relation to the civic (civitas) and the political (polis), in other words, the city as an urban phenomenon in the form of a built environment, a civic organisation in the form of a local administration and as a political entity marked by the associations and divisions that run through a given urban environment, and which may ‘originate’ within or outside that boundary.
